John DeDakis

Award-winning journalist and novelist John DeDakis is a former Senior Copy Editor on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer." DeDakis (pronounced deh-DAY-kiss), a former White House correspondent, is a writing coach, manuscript editor, and writing workshop leader.

DeDakis is the author of five novels in the Lark Chadwick mystery-suspense series. His fourth novel, Bullet in the Chamber, is the winner of the Reviewer’s Choice, Foreword INDIES, and Feathered Quill book awards. The novel deals, in part, with the death of his youngest son, Stephen, 22, in 2011.  His fifth novel, Fake, will be published by Strategic Media Books on September 1, 2019. In Fake, Lark is a White House correspondent in an era of “fake news” when facts are suspect and reporters are targets.

In addition to leading workshops at writers’ conferences throughout the U.S., DeDakis regularly teaches writing at the Politics & Prose Bookstore in Washington, D.C. and at The Writer’s Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

In his spare time, what little he has of it, DeDakis is a jazz drummer.
